Behind the Colour Dash
Our beliefs
The Colour Dash is a vibrant celebration made possible through the partnership between Creative Abilities & Associates and The Liz Soper Foundation of Care. Founded by Liz Soper in 1994, Creative Abilities has been dedicated for 30 years to supporting individuals with physical and intellectual impairments, guided by the belief that everyone deserves to live life their way in an inclusive community, enjoying enriching experiences and meaningful connections.
The Liz Soper Foundation of Care, established by Liz’s daughters Clara and Hannah in 2018, exists to reduce the financial barriers to fun, enabling New Zealanders living with complex disabilities to experience some of life’s unforgettable experiences. Honoring the vision on which Creative Abilities was built, all administrative support for the Foundation is donated by Creative Abilities, ensuring that 100% of donations go directly to grant recipients.
Creative Abilities has provided seed funding the Colour Dash to life, with a shared mission: to create an inclusive, accessible community event while raising funds for the Foundation. Together, they are championing accessibility and delivering joy through events that bring (all) people together. 🌈
Why it matters
Colour Dash is more than just a fun run – it’s about coming together as a community to celebrate inclusivity (inclusivity without accessibility is incomplete), connection, and health. We believe that everyone, regardless of age, ability, or background, deserves the chance to experience the joy of being active in a welcoming community environment. It’s a dash with a purpose, where fun, connection and giving back go hand in hand.
